Pahari Cultural Centre located at SM Hill, Karnah intends to be the first Cultural Centre & Museum in Jammu & Kashmir dedicated to the PAHARI tribe. This initiative of Indian Army serves as a guardian of the rich heritage of the Pahari tribe, providing a nurturing environment for the preservation, promotion and celebration of unique customs, rituals and artistic expressions. The Pahari Cultural Centre is a dynamic space, a cultural crossroad where the past and present intersect.
Our Story
The centre gives visitors an immersive experience of rich heritage of Paharis, through its various sections. The museum is curated to cover various aspects of Ancient History & Evolution, Geographical settlements, religious diversity, Linguistic heritage and many other elements associated with their culture and life. This museum also focuses on highlighting the resilience and evolvement of Paharis with time and how their present generation is paving way towards growth while preserving their rich culture and heritage.
This Museum is one of a kind in whole country which has dedicatedly showcased the Pahari Culture and inspires every visitor to explore these highlanders through textual and cultural perspective. The centre comprises an AV room to showcase documentary and give more realistic experience to visitors.
The centre is based on Ethnographic research with an aim to enhance sustainable preservation of Pahari cultural heritage and intends to make it one of the best cultural centres in India.
